Still in love...7 months

Okay...so it's been forever and a day since I posted photos, and that's because it's been forever and a week since I took any.

But here they are....my pics from my 7 month anniversary and my first self-tightening.

My ends are still curly....

I think I'm at a stage where it's looking fuller instead of longer.

My first self-tightening. I think I did a pretty good job! Especially considering that I was self-taught. I just purchased a tool and read directions from the Internet. Then I simply went for it. I'm very pleased with the results!

Congratulations on your first DIY!!! You are now in the Sisterlocks DIY club! I can't wait to give it a try myself but I haven't received my Nappylocs tool yet.

How many hours would you say it would take you to complete your whole head without stopping?

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the pics!!!!!

Congrats on your first DIY session! I'm sure it came out great.

I think self tightening is a bit addictive, especially when you like doing things with your hands. At first I got into the habit of leaving my Nappylocks tool on the end table but I realized that I managed to find at least a few locks that "needed" to be retightened every night. Now I put it in the medicine cabinet and only take it out every two weeks.

I'll be back to see your handy work when you post pics =)

Thanks Ladies!

MM, I'd say it would probably take about 5 hours if I'd done it straight through, but I only have about 270 locks, so I think once I get the hang of it, I will probably be able to do it in about 3.5. But I also don't forsee a reason that I ever will need to sit down and do it all at once.

I think I will always do it as needed, either because it feels loose or because it looks like it needs freshening.

Even 5 hours spread out over 3 or 4 days isn't intimidating in the least!

SG, I thought about you even before you commented because I remembered that you liked to knit. I thought you might feel me on this one.

I could tighten a few locks every day...I even considered ordering two more tools so I could keep one in my purse and wallet!

But I decided that it's really not that serious!

It looks great. You did a really good job and you're right... it does go a lot faster after doing it a few times. My first time took FOREVER!

Although the owner of Nappylocks would love it if you starting buying up all the tools that they have in stock, I'm glad that you refrained LOL. Seriously though, I made myself wait until I can do a full rotation on a lock before tightening after reading on NP about how some people lost locks after by retightening to much (not to scare anyone... I think they were tightening at the FIRST sign of new growth and ended up weakening their rootbeds).

Ok, my comment is getting kind of long here so I'm off to find a knitting pattern for a dog sweater... it's kind of cold here in Florida, my babies need new ones and I need something to do :)
