Sisterlocks Freedom!

Don't you LOVE not being afraid of water and steam???

When I was pressing my hair, I wouldn't stand too close to the pot when I was steaming vegetables or pasta because my hair is so fine all it needed to do was catch a wisp of moisture and it would start to curl!

Partially straight hair meeting partially curly hair - never a good look, like socks and sandals...

Yesterday I got caught in a sudden downpour. I didn't want my clothes wet, but I didn't worry one bit about my hair. I got a little wet, but my clothes dried off and my hair was just as cute as when I left home!

Can't beat the SL freedom!

I actually WET my hair most days and sometimes I just let the steam from the shower soak into them so they get all soft and fluffy. Water is now my friend!

Aren't SLs THE BEST?!

I agree 100%. We had a sudden downpour today when I was leaving church and all the young ladies were looking for something to cover their heads. I walked out in front of them and said, "Just another reason to go natural. You don't have to worry about the rain ruining your do!!" So I left them standing there waiting on the rain to stop and I got in my car and went on my way. I didn't feel controlled by the circumstances and I actually enjoyed the rain as it had been so hot earlier in the day.

I love the feeling of water in my hair and now I don't have to struggle with fixing my hair afterwards - Wonderful!

To have such a carefree attitude with regards to the elements is beyond awesome. Although this realistically applies to freestyle, ponytails, and updos. When it comes to curl or braidout sets, the rain is still not our friend. Don't ditch the umbrella just yet.

Thanks for your comments ladies. I knew I wasn't alone.

I'm not going to go out on that limb like Goodnapps did a little while ago, but, has anyone KISSED in the RAIN since getting their SLs?

That's one of those things you see in the movies and think: Not a black girl...

There are a few movies like Love Jones and Something New that feature black women kissing. In the rain. And I know I STILL thought: Mmm Hmm, that's only 'cuz she's got hair and makeup people back in the trailer, no one does that in REAL LIFE!

But you know what? I have done it with my natural hair. And it was pretty special.
