I Want Some More Length Already!

I was reading this post by Sony and I could really identify with what she said about the progression of her locks. I just took my 4 month pics and they look like my 3 month pics and they look like my 2 month pics, but I have promised myself that I will take pictures faithfully every month.

One of these months I will look back and see change, but it IS like watching paint dry.

The weird thing is that I can feel that I have just over half an inch of new growth (more in some places) between retightenings and I can see that I have more than 2 inches since I started by looking at the distance of my highlights from my scalp, but when I look in the mirror and at my pictures, it doesn't look any longer.

Sigh...patience. I figured in the beginning that I would probably only be able to see length changes in 3 month increments. So I will see what it looks like at 6 months and 9.

I am very happy that I have not experienced bunching and my frizzies have increased significantly, but they are still not what I would consider "out of control," so as much as I want more length, I am still very happy.

I'll have to post some morepics of me on my blog. I wish I had cut some more before I started with the 12-15" hair I started with...I feel I am missing out on a stage that should be enjoyed. So all you sisters with shorter hair be grateful for the stage and be glad your hair is short in the summer. I was told not to cut a single loc for fear that my hair will unravel.

I know its easier said than done, but patience really is key! Like you said when you look back you will see a big difference!

Bless your heart. If it makes you feel any better, my hair is past my shoulders and on most days I have a bob that falls just below my ears.

You're so right on this one. I am 6 months locked and haven't noticed much length change either. However, I have noticed changes with each individual lock. I'm told that around the one year mark, the hair will not shrink as much, giving a longer look to the locks. We shall see.

If you compare my install and one year locks the major difference is my locks themselves, not the length. The locks have thickened up and my scalp has filled in tremendously. My hair is much fuller. Even though my 1 year pick looks longer my hair shrunk back up to my ear after a couple hours b/c of my wonderful shrinkage! I think for every inch of new growth maybe 1/8th is visible on my head. After I wash my hair it hangs nicely but as it's drying it's drawing up.

So I definitely feel you about the length. If I could just get my hair in a ponytail I would be fine. Even when I was two-strand twisting I could put my hair in a ponytail.....sigh.....

Sorry to ramble but I can't wait for more length either. They do say after the first year growth is more noticeable.

I can relate! I am at my three month mark and although I do see some growth, I would love to wake up with my hair at least six inches longer, but then again I wouldn't enjoy the process. Your's look really good, I can't wait until I get some hangtime, right now I can only spike them because they aren't long enough to hang down.

JSYK, Carmen had a funny post about an ole G who tried to hit on her at McDs. I commented to say, yeah, why does that happen, but on a positive note, I did get some play from a nice looking professional brother the other day. He asked me to lunch after complimenting me on my hair. That's why she's teasing me.

Patience grasshopper. In time, the length will come and a growth spurt will happen and last for a minute. At least, that's what Jen and I experienced and are still experiencing. Enjoy every step of the journey. I sometime miss my shorter lock days. Blessings...
